Investment: “Banque du Caire raises valuation to USD 1.56B ahead of IPO”
Banque du Caire, one of Egypt’s major banks, is preparing for a potential listing on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) with an initial public offering expected in the fourth quarter of 2026. The bank is reported to be planning to offer roughly 30%–40% of its shares as it completes a valuation reassessment, with current expectations placing its valuation between USD 1.56 billion (EGP 80 billion) and USD 1.57 billion (EGP 80.5 billion).
Reports indicate interest from international financial institutions and international development institutions in the potential offering. Preparations are understood to include a promotional campaign in September and October alongside the completion of the bank’s valuation review.
Banque du Caire is an established Egyptian bank. Its valuation had been estimated at EGP 78 billion at the end of 2025 before the latest reassessment pushed expectations higher. A public listing would add another major financial institution to the EGX and expand the range of banking assets available to investors.
The proposed sale of a 30%–40% stake through an IPO is positioned to deepen Egypt’s capital markets and advance the government’s broader state asset offering programme, while potentially broadening the investor base; the final offering size, valuation and institutional participation will depend on the outcome of the ongoing review.
