Investment: “Breedr raises €23 million”

Breedr, the UK‑founded livestock technology platform that gives every cow a digital record from birth to the supermarket shelf, has raised €23 million in a Series B round led by Partech’s impact fund.

The round also saw participation from Latitude, the growth‑stage fund of seed investor LocalGlobe, and Outsiders Fund, bringing Breedr’s total funding to approximately €39.9 million.

Founded in 2018 in London by Ian Wheal, Breedr is now headquartered in Texas and operates across the United States, United Kingdom and Australia. The company combines a livestock management app, a data‑verified marketplace and an embedded cattle finance fund into a single closed‑loop system that tracks individual animal data from birth through processing. Breedr previously raised around €14.3 million in 2022; the Series B increases its total to €39.9 million.

Breedr says its platform holds more than two million cattle, with close to €428 million of livestock transacted this year, and serves customers ranging from family ranches to operations managing over 100,000 cattle a year. The platform records each animal’s weight, health and family history at every stage, offers a marketplace where animals trade with verified digital records, and uses AI growth‑prediction models alongside a cattle finance fund that advances cash against livestock.

The company says the new funding will be used to bring more ranchers and farmers onto the platform and to capture additional data points such as genomic data, and to expand connected supply chains globally.

“We built Breedr to bring value back to the people who raise the cattle. Demand for beef is climbing while the herd is the smallest it has been in 75 years. The industry has to get more value from every animal, and you cannot do that on paper.”

“Beef is one of the most complex decarbonisation problems there is. Breedr cuts emissions while helping producers become more profitable. Ian and the Breedr team are building the transaction layer for one of the world’s largest unmodernised markets, earning revenue every time an animal changes hands. That alignment between the commercial engine and the environmental outcome is exactly what our impact fund exists to back. We truly believe that Ian, being an insider from this industry, and his team can fundamentally transform this value chain with data intelligence.”
