Enerjisa Enerji, one of Türkiye’s leading electricity distribution and retail companies, has signed a new loan agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) with a 7-year maturity and an amount equivalent to $207 million in Turkish lira.

The secured funds will be used to strengthen the grid infrastructure, expand capacity, and drive modernization investments across the company’s three distribution regions: Başkent, AYEDAŞ, and Toroslar. Serving more than 22 million users across 14 provinces, Enerjisa aims to prepare its distribution networks for the growing demands of electrification and renewable energy integration through these investments.

The financing package is backed by the European Union’s European Fund for Sustainable Development Plus (EFSD+) Hi Bar Guarantee Programme. This deal marks the first time an EFSD+ guarantee has been granted to an EBRD-facilitated loan within Türkiye’s electricity distribution sector.

Commenting on the agreement, Enerjisa Enerji CEO Oğuzhan Özsürekci emphasized that a robust and resilient distribution infrastructure lies at the core of the future energy system, noting that the confidence shown by international financial institutions will accelerate energy transition investments. EBRD Director for Energy in Eurasia Şule Kılıç highlighted that the project will both enhance grid quality and support Türkiye’s green energy transition.
