Saudi-based enterprise data management and governance platform Governata has raised $4 million in seed funding from a syndicate of investors including Joa Capital, abtal.vc, Sanabil Accelerator by 500 Global, Sadu Capital and Plus VC.

The round also saw participation from Hyperscope Ventures, A-Typical Ventures and Plug and Play.

Launched in 2025 by Khalid Almudayfir and Djamel Mohand in Saudi Arabia, Governata enables public and private institutions to build reliable, compliant and AI-ready data foundations. Its AI-driven data management software reinforces data quality, governance and classification to ensure trustworthy, scalable and effective adoption of enterprise AI, machine learning and generative AI.

The funding will be used to accelerate product development, advance the company’s roadmap to integrate advanced machine learning and generative AI capabilities, and support regional expansion across Saudi Arabia and the Middle East while ensuring data localization and protection.

“By helping Saudi institutions build strong and intelligent data foundations, we’re unlocking the full potential of Generative AI and contributing to the next generation of AI-powered enterprises, guided by trust, compliance, and innovation,” said co-founder Djamel Mohand.
